When I post stuff like this I get worried that I sound like I am making generalisations so I will make it clear that I am not for starters.

However, I have heard this from a few people out here living in China: say I am bloated (which happens easily!) or I have had a big lunch or something like that, people will not hesitate to call you fat. If you are bigger, in your height, natural build, bone structure, whatever, you get called fat. You go home for the summer, you eat to much on a holiday, you go abroad or do something when you eat too much… you get called fat.

Now, for a long time I have been managing to talk myself into putting it as a translation thing. In Chinese they often don’t have all the adjectives that people use in English… but sometimes it just seems unforgivable. I mean, I’m 6ft 1 and weigh just under 75kg. That ain’t fat!

Of course this doesn’t come from everyone. But I would like to round house kick certain people in the chuff!
