what the hell am i teaching these kids!?!?

I talk about Saints alot when it comes to British culture, Saint George of England, Saint Andrew of Scotland, Saint Patrick of Ireland… and so on. To keep far away from going into the topic of religion (which i am not supposed to do!) I give the simple thesis that to be a Saint you have to be two things: A. Really really Good! B. Dead. Easy. I have gone over it many times.

So today, I asked the class, “What are the two things you need to do to become a Saint? Number One, you have to be…”

“WHITE!”

erm…

I am teaching ‘A Christmas Carol’ this week.

A student of mine completed one of these in under a minute the other day, scrambled it back up and handed it to me…

… I told him to get on with his work.
